Though several NASCAR Ford teams had successful days at Gateway (also known as World Wide Technology Raceway) on June 4th, 2023, the biggest Blue Oval story involved the No. 2 Mustang of Austin Cindric, who had a run in with the No. 3 Chevy Camaro ZL1 of Austin Dillon. In fact, Dillon was so displeased with Cindric, he called for the latter’s suspension for his actions.
With just over 20 laps left in the race, a wreck unfolded between the No. 3 Camaro of Dillon and the No. 47 Camaro of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. At first, it was difficult to tell that Cindric’s No. 2 NASCAR Ford was involved, but a different view of the wreck shows that contact between his Mustang and Dillon’s No. 3 Camaro was what triggered the incident.
From Dillon’s perspective, the wreck wasn’t an accident.
“I was intentionally wrecked by [Cindric],” Dillon said after exiting his wrecked race car. “Hooked right, just like Chase [Elliott] and Denny [Hamlin at Charlotte], and Bubba’s [Wallace] deal [with Kyle Larson in 2022]. He better be suspended next week.”
Cindric, meanwhile, has yet to comment on the wreck.
Meanwhile, Joey Logano’s No. 22 NASCAR Ford quietly finished third, having attempted to reel in eventual winner Kyle Busch’s No. 8 Camaro. Ryan Blaney also had a decent showing, having led 83 laps and ultimately finishing sixth.

The reason for the other two suspensions because they were retaliations for an earlier incident (and Bubba took it to the next level by punching Kyle Larson and a NASCAR official), this looks like Cindric’s spotter just dropped the ball.
