Once a pretty common, mass-produced vehicle, the Ford Contour is a pretty rare sight on today’s roads, even if it was named as one of the top automotive models owned by people with prior DUI incidents in a recent study. Regardless, we saw a very nice, 16k-mile 2000 Ford SVT Contour pop up at auction exactly one month ago, and now, this 7k-mile 1995 Ford Contour is also up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, which could signal that the stylish sedan is enjoying a bit of a renaissance.
The seller of this particular 1995 Ford Contour is actually the original owner, who clearly hasn’t driven it much over the years. It’s now up for sale as perhaps the nicest Contour left on earth, one that comes with loads of documentation including the window sticker, official Ford literature, and even a Contour-branded vinyl front-end cover. Finished in Champagne Clearcoat Metallic, there aren’t many flaws to note, as one might imagine, save for a single scratch and some paint bubbling on the rear bumper trim.
The same goes for the rather pristine interior, which features Pumice leather seats and plenty of amenities including a power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD stereo coupled with the Ford premium sound system, as well as power locks, windows, and mirrors.
This 1995 Ford Contour is powered by the Ford 2.5L V6 Duratec engine, which was originally rated to produce 170 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission, offering up good fuel economy figures of 22 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway. Though it’s clearly a special and rather rare sight in today’s world, this pristine Contour hasn’t yet attracted much interest as of this writing, with a high bid of just $4,600 with one day to go, making it a potential deal for interested parties.

Had a contour v6 , nice driving comfortable, but plagued with electrical demons
I had a 99 Contour. Up to that time was the best car I have ever owned. Nice ride. Comfortable. Great gas mileage. Had the 2.0 litre 4-banger. Last I heard of it it was over 200K miles and still running strong. But that was about 8 years ago so I am sure it is scrap metal by now.
Can’t believe a 95 with the biodegradable wiring harness (specifically that year only), along with a first-year CD4E automatic transaxle.
I’d take a chance on a ’95 SE, but it’d have to be an MTX.
Had a manual transmission 2.5 liter V6 Mercury Mistique. Great acceleration and comfortable ride, good reliability. Only problem was refilling with gas…so slow.
