Early in the year, production of the refreshed 2023 Ford Escape was a little slow to get going, largely due to a multi-week pause as The Blue Oval worked to fix a software-related issue discovered during the pre-production process at the Louisville Assembly plant. Once that problem was rectified, production of the 2023 Ford Escape ramped up quickly in the ensuing months, and has been humming along quite nicely ever since. However, according to Ford’s latest sales report, 2023 Escape production did dip just a bit in the month of June.
The Blue Oval built a grand total of 18,756 2023 Ford Escape crossovers in June, which is 414 units or around 2.2 percent less than the 19,170 it produced in May, bringing its year-to-date total to 66,897 units. That number still represents a massive ramp up compared to earlier in the year, however, as Ford managed to build just 494 units in February, followed by 11,771 in March and 12,805 in April.
As Ford Authority reported earlier this month, the brand new 2023 Ford Escape ST-Line series has thus far been a big hit with consumers, in particular – precisely as Ford expected. In fact, the sportier version of the crossover represented 40 percent of the Escape’s overall sales in June 2023, which is a significant number, indeed.
Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid version of the refreshed crossover also remains a hot entity, as well as a compelling option for customers that own vehicles made by other brands. While the entire crossover lineup enjoyed a 28.7 percent sales increase in Q2 2023, nearly half of all 2023 Ford Escape PHEV customers thus far have come from other brands. This is rather notable as FoMoCo has focused heavily on conquest sales in recent months, particularly with its revamped ICE lineup and all-electric models.
