2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Gets First-Ever Factory Rebate

After debuting to much fanfare and many reservations, the Ford F-150 Lightning has since received multiple rounds of price increases that have driven its cost far higher than initial pricing. Additionally, The Blue Oval has worked to increase production of its EV pickup recently – which, coupled with the fact that many order holders are bailing following the aforementioned price increases – has resulted in inventory accumulating on dealer lots. Thus, FoMoCo has responded by giving the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning that model’s first-ever factory rebate in an effort to keep units moving, according to a dealer bulletin seen by CarsDirect.

FoMoCo is now offering rebates consisting of $500 in Low APR Retail Customer Cash and up to $1,000 in Retail Trade Assist through October 2nd, which can total $1,500 in savings for 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning customers – but only in select markets. These deals also vary by geographic location, with places like California getting a total of $1,000 in possible incentives, while those in Phoenix, Arizona can get the entire $1,500. Also, Low APR Retail Customer Cash is only available for Ford Credit customers, while Retail Trade Assist can only be had if the customer is trading in another vehicle.

In addition to these rebates, well-qualified 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning customers can also take advantage of some special financing rates, including 1.9 percent for up to 36 months for all trims, 2.9 percent for 48 months, 3.9 percent for 60 months, 5.9 percent for 72 months, and 7.9 percent for 84 months.

It’s also worth noting that buyers can take advantage of the federal $7,500 tax credit, as well as various clean energy credits available in select states to save even more money. For example, California offers a $2,000 Clean Vehicle Rebate, which – when combined with other offers – could save 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning customers as much as $12,000 off sticker.

  1. Thousand and thousands of dollars in price increases and you “might” be able to get $1500.00 off, if you happen to live in the right part of the country and have a trade-in? That’s as insulting as all of those price increases

  2. WOW after the base pro went from 39.995 to OVER 54,000!!! what a deal, they have 3 on our dealer lot 2 at $100,000 and one at $89,000, I’ll take all 3 !!! just like the maverick it wnet up $5000 on the xl hybrid.

  3. So my local dealer has a pretty red Platinum that stickers at around $98k, then they add their “market adjustment” of $6k for a total of $105k. Plus the state 10+% sales tax, of course. And then we can subtract Ford’s rebate – not much help!!!. As soon as the dealers stop ripping customers off, I’ll consider one. Until then, you’d have to be rich, or nuts, or both, to fall for their pricing scams!!!

    1. What area do you live in where they still have “market adjustments”? I live in Southern California, the key market and dealers are offering their own $2500 discounts. All my dealers have around 10+ lightnings and 60+ Mach-Es. They can’t move these electric vehicles

  5. I would not worry too much, pretty soon massive rebates will play a significant role in moving these overpriced vehicles piling up on dealer lots. This will happen to all manufacturers not just Ford, GM recently announced price increases for their upcoming electric truck.

  6. It is a REAL TRUCK! I have seen it up close twice and it is as real as a gas F-150. Lightning sales are very good. You are just envious of those who can buy it!

  7. Lightning was overpriced from the get go. The hideous screen didn’t help, and honestly the brakes on it are terrifyingly bad.

    With interest rates and a huge price tag, it’s gonna take some serious incentives to move these trucks.

    1. Brakes are terrifying bad?? Have you ever driven one? Seriously? The regen braking on its own is amazng, and if you add mechanical braking on top of that this 7000 pound vehicle stops like its a Porsche. Yes, they are expensive, and yes the high interest rates are a factor. But you’re really reaching on the brake thing.

      1. Totally agree. The thing people should know is 95% of the people commenting online about EVs have zero experience behind the wheel and love to share all the false information they can find. And then they do their best to discredit actual owners of said vehicles that share real world experiences. This first generation of EVs are far from perfect. But they are an absolute joy to own and use over ICE. And things will only get better rapidly. My advice to those who are genuinely interested, is to ignore the fear mongers who need to justify their current ICE ownership woes.

        1. Yeah… Not the case man. It has brakes that don’t keep up with it’s speed. Real obvious if you drive one. Ford cheaped out on brakes.

          Put it this way, GM built the escalade V that’s about as fast to 60 as the lightning, give or take. They gave it MASSIVE Brembos brakes. Ford did nothing to the brakes on lightning, despite making it WAY faster than the regular f150, and heavier.

      2. Yeah, I drove it. It’s brakes were horrifyingly bad for a vehicle that fast. It stopped like a 7000 pound version of an f150, but accelerated like a madman. That’s a recipe for disaster when you can hit 60 in like 4 seconds but it’ll take you longer than to stop

        Ford should have upgraded the brakes on them to some MUCH larger rotors and calipers with a MUCH more aggressive pad. If it’s going to accelerate like a mustang GTPP, then it needs to stop like one too, if not faster because I might have a trailer behind it.

  8. Yet Tesla says it has millions of preorders for the oft delayed Cybertruck.
    The only ones tripping over EVs are WS analysts and far left agendas. Consumer demand is nowhere near predicted. Rivian stock goes up 100% in 2 weeks because the sold 14K EVs in 3 months (Q2). In a good year Ford sells 17K ICE pickups per WEEK. WS says no no Ford, those aren’t EVs. What a joke!

  9. Ford is missing the big picture. And eventually they are going to take it in the shorts. Not only are these trucks very overpriced, but the morons at Ford thought it was a great idea (largely due to the fact that they didn’t order enough parts) to delete items off each truck. Go look at a window sticker. Look at all the options. Then look in the bottom left. Look at all the deletes. And then the petty refunds Ford gives you. What a joke. You can’t even get the truck you order. I know many people that are not upgrading. Their truck has more than a new one. Ford’s about to take a massive flop. Wait for it. The CEO better wake up quick

  10. Price on most vehicles is way to high for the average joe and most will stay with the used market. For me I drive a 31 year old F150 and it gets me where I want to go . So no thanks to the big buck trucks!

    1. Kudos to you. Make it last. For me, I bought an new EV truck and love driving it every chance I get. Especially not throwing away hundreds of dollars in gas and maintenance each month.

  12. Kudos to Ford for at least recognizing the demand problem with EV’s. These meager discounts are far from what’s needed to enhance demand. Please offer 0% financing for 72 months on ALL EV’s through Ford Credit and $3750 off on MACH E to match the rest of the missing 750K tax credit AFTER lowering MSRP to match price with Tesla MY. Try this for 2 months and watch the inventory disappear. That is if dealer greed can be controlled for that long.

  13. If you can get a lariat with an engine inside it for $70k, why on earth would someone pay $90k for an electric one?

    Think about that ford. That EV movement you talk about…it needs to be CHEAPER not more expensive. Also…you better start dropping those Lighting prices because the midsize trucks will come right after you with $45-$50k EV midsize trucks with better range.

    Only way to sell more, is to drop the MSRP. Rebates do NOTHING

    1. I do think there are some people out there who would pay more for an electric. They’ll do it either out of hypothetical fuel savings, upkeep, just plain desire, something like that.

      That said, with interest rates as high as they are right now, it’s gonna be tough to sell most people any sort of high dollar truck.

      I don’t see midsize EV trucks being a thing really. They’re going to be too small to fit the necessary size battery to have larger range, and the size/weight penalty doesn’t play the same way like it would in an ICE vehicle. A midsize BEV truck would almost certainly have lower range than a fullsize, and cost far too much to attract buyers. Midsize trucks already struggle to sell in the higher end against fullsize trucks.
