2024 Ford Maverick Drops Windshield Wiper De-Icer

The Ford Maverick has undergone a handful of changes since its launch for the 2022 model year, many related to supply chain issues. For the 2024 model year, the incredibly popular compact pickup is facing more changes than ever, in fact, as Ford Authority has detailed over the past several weeks. Now, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that the 2024 Ford Maverick is facing yet another notable change – the removal of its windshield wiper de-icer feature.

The 2024 Ford Maverick lineup is dropping the windshield wiper de-icer, which was previously included with both the XLT Luxury Package and Lariat Luxury Package. The Maverick is just one of many Blue Oval models that have ditched this feature in recent years, which has proven popular with customers that live in areas with snowy, icy winters. That list includes the 2021 Ford Super Duty pickup, 2021 Lincoln Nautilus crossover, 2021 Ford Expedition SUV, and 2021 Ford Ranger pickup.

This deletion isn’t the only one facing 2024 Ford Maverick customers. In fact, the compact pickup is also ditching the SecuriCode keypad and the manual sliding rear window. The biggest change, however, is the fact that the 2024 Maverick hybrid is no longer the standard powerplant, and has instead become a $1,500 option, while the turbocharged Ford 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost has replaced it as the standard engine of choice.

Additionally, the 2024 Maverick Lariat now comes standard with the previously optional Lariat Luxury Package, the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist Package, the spray-in bedliner, and black-painted side mirrors, while the Tremor Off-Road Package has gained new decals while the Tremor Off-Road Appearance Package has been deleted. All of these changes come at a cost, as 2024 Ford Maverick pricing has increased across the board, as Ford Authority reported earlier this week.

  3. I’ve called my dealer twice this week to find out any information about the reorder to the 24. Both times the sales manager is away so the salesperson has NO clue what the incentives will be on the 17th. The incentives must be “Top Secret “ classified information which can not be leaked out. This must mean bad news for all of us but not me. Good bye Maverick, hello Toyota Stout. Ford has not given us any honest information only excuses. I wish the best of luck to all of you who have your 23 rolled over to a 24 on the 17th.

    2. My dealer won’t know the exact prices until the 17th either. Maybe someone cares about Tremor decals but I’m not impressed with some lettering glued onto a vehicle.

  7. Our ’22 Lincoln Corsair has the wiper deicers, but I’ve never had to use them as we live in the Coachella Valley and the car is parked in a garage. I have used the heated seats and steering wheel a few times in the winter, though.

  8. Ford should delete the Maverick name too as it’s an embarrassment to the Maverick automobile of the 70s.

    1. That maverick car was, is, and always will be trash. It was a desperate attempt at an import fighter, and it did nothing right. Unlike the current maverick, which is the perfect vehicle at the perfect time. It’s just being fumbled by a combination of Ford’s typical incompetence, and their arrogance because they know the soonest coming competition is inferior. When the real competition arrives, they’ll need to step up, or fail yet again.

  11. I just received my 2023 Maverick XLT and I cannot believe all the features it has and the excellent ride quality. This vehicle is not fully broken in and I am getting over 40 mpg. My other vehicles are a Lexus RX F-Sport and a Tesla model Y performance. I find myself driving the Maverick more than the others. I simply LOVE this truck!

  12. What a bunch of whiners. Car prices go up each year. Some features get dropped. Colors change. All car manufacturers do it.

  13. To correct an error is this article… the wiper de-icer is included in the Lariat trim which now includes the Lariat Luxury Package as standard… “The 2024 Ford Maverick lineup is dropping the windshield wiper de-icer, which was previously included with both the XLT Luxury Package and Lariat Luxury Package.”
