2024 Ford Transit Lineup In Europe Gets Tons Of Tech Updates

Though it has soldiered on for years without a major redesign, the Ford Transit remains as popular as ever, routinely topping the sales charts in both the U.S. and Europe, among other places. However, Ford did update its large van for the 2022 model year in Europe by adding a host of standard active safety features, a 12-inch touchscreen for certain trims, and Sync 4. Now, the 2024 Ford Transit is getting even more updates for the new model year in that same region.

On the tech side of things, the 2024 Ford Transit now comes standard with Sync 4, a 12-inch centrally-mounted touchscreen, and an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, along with the latest version of FoMoCo’s 5g modem for faster connectivity and Power-Up over-the-air-update capability. Meanwhile, Delivery Assist – available on long wheelbase panel vans with an automatic transmission – helps shave around 20 seconds off each delivery time by automatically turning off the engine, activating the hazard lights and alarm, and locking the doors that aren’t in use when the vehicle is placed into park, while a mere press of the brake pedal turns the lights off and restarts the engine.

The Ford Pro Upfit Integration System lets drivers control aftermarket-installed equipment by using digital buttons on the touchscreen and also links to the company’s software packages for remote monitoring capability. The European 2024 Ford Transit adds a variety of standard advanced driver assistance systems including Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Alert & Aid, Intelligent Speed Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering and Stop & Go, and Auto Park Assist.

In addition to a new eight-speed automatic transmission for front-wheel drive models, the 2024 Transit also gets lighter wheel hub and brake systems that are easier to service, standard 16-inch wheels, and a new heavy-duty Gross Axle Weight Rating pack, also for front-wheel drive vans. Order banks for the updated van are set to open later this month, with production beginning in early 2024 and deliveries commencing next summer.
