NASCAR Ford Makes Mistake In Pits, Loses Loudon 2023: Video

The No. 19 Toyota TRD Camry of Martin Truex Jr. was a tough car to catch on Monday, July 17^th, 2023, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, but for a while, it looked like the No. 12 NASCAR Ford of Ryan Blaney had something for him. However, Blaney’s attempt at the win was stymied by a mistake in the pits, relegating the No. 12 Mustang to a 22^nd-place finish.

With 31 laps to go, Blaney’s No. 12 NASCAR Ford dove into the pits after a caution was called to address the No. 42 Chevy Camaro ZL1 of Noah Gragson, who had spun out. Blaney’s No. 12 Mustang ended up running over an air hose, resulting in a penalty that sent him to the rear of the field – a serious disappointment, considering that he had been running second behind Truex’s No. 19 Camry and closing on him for some time.

Meanwhile, on the ensuing restart, the No. 22 Mustang of Joey Logano was in a good position to take over the lead. However, there seemed to be little he could do toward the end, falling behind the leader and settling for a second-place result.

“When you’re at your home race track, second hurts more than anywhere else,” Logano said. “There’s no place I want to win more than here and came up one spot short. That one stings but overall, still have to say it’s a good day. Just mad right now.”

Kyle Larson’s No. 5 Camaro finished third, but The Blue Oval secured the next two positions, with Kevin Harvick’s No. 4 Mustang in fourth and Brad Keselowski’s No. 6 Mustang taking home fifth.

“We were fortunate we had fresher tires than most and were able to stay out and get most of that back,’’ Harvick said. “We’ve just got to be able to do what we need to do when it counts.”
