Since transforming into a mid-size pickup, older, compact Ford Ranger models have begun to gain serious steam on the collector vehicle market, with numerous low-mile examples surfacing for sale at auction over the past few months. That list includes a 41k-mile 2001 XLT Flareside, a 5k-mile 2011 XLT, a 29k-mile 2002 XLT, and a 2004 Ranger Edge with just 3k miles on the clock. Now, those that miss the old, small version of this long-running model have another stellar example they can bid on – this 2008 Ford Ranger XLT that’s currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.
This particular 2008 Ford Ranger XLT was originally sold by Fairway Ford in Kingsport, Tennessee, and was acquired by the seller back in 2018. Finished in Vista Blue Metallic, there are few flaws to note – as one might expect from a vehicle with just 17k original miles on the odometer – save for some minor blemishes and a crack in the left-rear taillight. Otherwise, it’s just a nice, simple, regular cab pickup that remains in highly original condition.
The same is true of the two-tone gray cloth interior, which has no notable flaws and no signs of wear and tear at all. It’s also reasonably well-equipped for a non-range-topping pickup of this vintage, touting features like air conditioning, cruise control, an AM/FM/CD stereo , and power windows, door locks, and mirrors.
Power for this particular Ranger comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.0L V6, which was factory-rated to produce 148 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. In this case, that engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels only. An ultra-clean and well-kept example of its breed, we imagine that plenty of potential suitors will line up to snag their chance at bringing this Ford Ranger home, and rightfully so.
