Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2023 Ford Super Duty pickups in response to an issue with the rearview camera display.
The defect: in certain Ford Super Duty models outfitted with Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, the default rearview camera image may not be displayed when using Pro Trailer Hitch Assist due to a software coding error. Instead, the hitch or trailer view may be displayed.
The hazards: an incorrect rearview camera image can reduce the driver’s visibility of what’s behind the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash and injury.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components: rearview camera display, Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) control module software.
Affected vehicles: select 2023 Ford Super Duty vehicles built between March 15th, 2023 and July 14th, 2023.
Number of vehicles affected: 18,513
The fix: dealers will update the ADAS module software, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin September 18th, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23S46.
