Due to receive a refresh soon, the 2024 Ford Expedition is entering the new model year largely unchanged after the full-size SUV was treated to a mid-cycle action for the 2022 model year. However, in a competitive segment where it trails the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon in terms of sales, the Expedition isn’t exactly soldiering on completely unchanged for 2024, as Ford Authority has reported in recent months. One new feature present in the 2024 Ford Expedition, in fact, is a smart charging USB port.
The 2024 Ford Expedition has gained a second USB-C smart charging port in its second row. This is different from the 2023 model year, when the SUV came standard with one USB-A port and a USB-C port for the second row. Now, both ports will be USB-C, reflecting changes in terms of which type of port portable devices have largely switched to in recent years.
Outside of this minor update, the 2024 Ford Explorer carries on mostly unchanged, save for a couple of other notable differences. For starters, the 2024 Expedition is gaining a new exterior color – Wild Green – a no-cost option that has been assigned paint code FC. This new hue is available on all 2024 Ford Expedition and Expedition Max trims and configurations, and can be paired with all available interior colorways.
Additionally, the 2024 Ford Expedition has also gained the new Excursion Package, which retails for $3,995 and is optional on Limited trimmed models, though it also requires the Limited High (302A) equipment group, which adds $2,705 to the total cost. The new package adds a host of equipment including the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and the Advanced Cargo Manager with black roof rail crossbars, along with suspension/drivetrain upgrades including ControlTrac with eLSD, a 3.73-geared electronic limited-slip differential, and the Continuous Controlled Damping (CCD) system with suspension road preview. Inside the cabin, the Expedition Package also adds a set of floor liners in the first and second rows.
We’ll have more on the Expedition soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
