2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Black Officially Debuts

The Blue Oval has been steadily rolling out specialty models and variants over the last several years, and the automaker views them as important for the company’s bottom line, in addition to their overall appeal to new car shoppers. Packages with an emphasis on blacked out trim is but one example of that strategy, with the Ford Mustang family and the Lincoln Aviator both receiving special packages with that aesthetic, along with the many black appearance packages available across the gasoline F-150 lineup. And now, with the official reveal of the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Black, the company has rolled out the first of several new additions to the electric pickup’s portfolio.

The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Black is the first production Ford truck to feature a matte wrap. Unsurprisingly, the pickup is decked out with a black monochromatic appearance, including a black Ford oval badge up front, Agate Black accented power-deployable running boards, and Agate Black door handles. Additionally, the truck features 22-inch mate black wheels and lug nuts, plus a smoked signature light bar.

Out back, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Black features a black-on-black Lightning badge that the company says will “appear to” glow when lights flash over it at night. It also comes with a soft-shell black tonneau cover.

BlueCruise 1.2 will be available in the Platinum Black and the pickup will feature updated graphics in the digital cluster that show when the vehicle is adjusting itself in-lane and when a hands-free lane change takes place. Additionally, the company says that Pro Power Onboard will now work while the truck is switched off, and that visuals have been tweaked to better inform customers about the truck’s power levels when it is in operation.

The 2024 Ford F-150 Platinum Black carries a $97,995 starting MSRP and will be a limited production model of just 2,000 examples. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2024. This is the first official news about the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning to come out, and based on what was announced, it appears the Lightning will not receive the same updates to its appearance that are set to arrive on the gasoline F-150 lineup for 2024, which will is slated to receive an extensive refresh.

  6. Farley needs to be let go. No one wants this garbage. Just keep building Diesel trucks and Mustangs. And no, the MachE is NOT a Mustang. Just like a Lighting is not a truck.

  9. The fact that it’s a wrap is utter crap. At least do a legit paint. In a few years the wraps are gonna be in crap shape and everyone will be peeling them off and just have black trucks.

  10. Wouldn’t it be nice if “ normal” folks could afford an aaF150 Lightning. Canceled my reservation for it and the E Silverado when both companies bumped the price to astronomical levels
