2024 Ford Ranger Production Pushed Back By One Week

The all-new, next-generation 2024 Ford Ranger has been on sale in select global markets for some time now, but is set to make its debut in the U.S. this summer, according to the automaker itself, along with the Ranger Raptor for the very first time. Order banks for the redesigned mid-size pickup opened up back in May, while production of the outgoing 2023 model is quickly winding down at the Michigan Assembly plant. As Ford Authority reported last week, 2024 Ford Ranger production was set to take its predecessor’s place on the assembly line on August 21st, but now, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that this date has been pushed back by one week.

Now, production of the 2024 Ford Ranger is set to kick off at MAP on August 28th, precisely one week after the original planned start. However, as is always the case, this date is subject to change (and it already has), given ever-changing supply chain conditions and the automaker’s new policy of working out quality issues prior to the start of deliveries. However, this new date still keeps the Ranger on track for its planned summer launch, at least.

Thus far, most 2024 Ranger order holders are opting for one of a few select configurations – the Ranger XL STX with four-wheel-drive finished in Oxford White, the Ranger XLT Sport 4WD with the tow package in Cactus Gray, and the Ranger Lariat Sport 4WD with the tow package. A total of 80 percent of Ranger customers are opting for 4WD, in fact, while 70 percent are going for the tow hitch, and 20 percent for the FX4 Off-Road Package. For the Ranger Raptor, 40 percent are going for the optional beadlock-capable wheels, while the most popular colors are Shelter Green Metallic and Shadow Black.

In terms of pricing, the 2024 Ford Ranger is more expensive than the outgoing model across the board, but it also gains the STX Appearance Package as standard equipment, along with some notable tech upgrades, which somewhat justify that price hike. Those that placed an order for one early on also qualified for a special pre-order discount, to boot.
