The all-new Ford Explorer EV – which rides on Volkswagen’s MEB platform and is destined for Europe – was revealed back in March, and will be the very first vehicle to roll off the assembly line at the recently revamped Cologne Electric Vehicle Center in Germany. However, the all-electric crossover’s launch was recently pushed back by a total of six months, a move that was attributed to concerns surrounding the model’s thermal propagation – the countermeasures around fire – according to Ford CEO Jim Farley. Regardless, that won’t stop The Blue Oval from promoting the new Ford Explorer EV, and its latest efforts to do that featured movie star Antonio Banderas – who previously drove a Ford F-150 Lightning to a charity event in Spain as part of another marketing effort.
This time around, Banderas shared the spotlight with the Ford Explorer EV at the 2023 Starlite Gala in Madrid, Spain, as the new model made its first public appearance at the charity event at La Cantera in Marbella. This pairing is significant, as Ford has served as a mobility partner of the Starlite Gala for the past 14 years. There, it seems as if Banderas came away impressed by the new Explorer EV, too.
“It is very striking. I love it,” he said. “I really hope that Ford gives me one because, for many years now in Los Angeles, I have been using an electric vehicle. I like the comfort of recharging it at home and I love the feeling when driving it.”
“Explorer is the precursor of our new generation of exciting electric vehicles, so we are excited to see it today debuting in Spain.,” said Cristina del Rey, Ford’s director of communication in Europe. “Impregnated with our American roots and manufactured in Cologne for our European customers, it is prepared for great adventures and fully equipped with everything our drivers need for their daily commutes.”

Wouldn’t have one if it was free nothing but a fire starter
