The release of the 2023 J.D. Power China Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study has thus far contained plenty of good news for The Blue Oval, which saw Lincoln rank second in the premium ICE vehicle segment among all automotive brands, while the Changan Ford joint venture between The Blue Oval and Changan Automobile ranked sixth among all mass market brands. However, the automaker’s other Chinese joint venture – JMC Ford – also fared quite well, ranking close behind Changan Ford in tenth place in the mass market ICE segment.
JMC Ford came in tenth place with a score of 523 out of a possible 1,000 points, which placed it behind Lynk & Co (559), TANK (545), GAC Trumpchi (543), OSHAN (542), Geely (528), Changan Ford (527), Jetour (526), Changan (525), and Dongfeng Honda (524) in a crowded segment. This year’s J.D. Power China Tech Experience Study polled a total of 35,155 new vehicle owners who purchased those vehicles between June 2022 and March 2023. The 2023 version of year’s study found that overall, satisfaction in that regard reached an all-time high of 528, signaling just how important tech is to Chinese car shoppers.
“With the transformation and upgrading of China’s auto market, smart vehicles equipped with advanced technologies are becoming important choices for consumers when buying vehicles,” said Elvis Yang, general manager of auto product practice at J.D. Power China. “According to this year”s China New Vehicle Intender Study, the impact weight of tech experience on vehicle purchases has risen by two percentage points to 14 percent. For automakers, installing advanced technologies in their vehicles does not necessarily mean that owners’ user tech experience will be positive. Finding what technologies owners really want and presenting them in a way they can easily be used will improve their tech experience.”
