No. 17 NASCAR Ford Goes Back-To-Back At Michigan 2023: Video

Chris Buescher, driver of the No. 17 NASCAR Ford Mustang, won last weekend at Richmond, and now, he’s done it again, capturing the top spot at Michigan International Speedway on August 7th, 2023, though the weekend was plagued by rain.

The race was initially scheduled for Sunday, August 6th, but was rained out after 74 laps and continued on Monday. Once the race resumed, it quickly became evident that it would come down to Buescher’s No. 17 NASCAR Ford and the No. 19 Toyota TRD Camry of Martin Truex Jr. Truex’s No. 19 Camry was fast enough to lead 48 laps total, only beat by Buescher’s No. 17 Mustang, who led 52 laps total. The two racers got close to one another as the laps ticked down, but Truex’s No. 19 Camry didn’t have enough to pass Buescher’s No. 17 Mustang.

“This Castrol Mustang was so good in practice, qualifying,” said Buescher. “Gave me a great car again. Had to work for that one too, hard racing at the end. Martin was very clean with me. I appreciate that. Get to go to Victory Lane two weeks in a row. That’s pretty awesome.”

Buescher’s teammate and partial team owner, Brad Keselowski, brought the No. 6 NASCAR Ford across the line in fourth after posting the fastest laps on the racetrack.

Monday’s victory at Michigan marks the eighth in a row for Ford at the automaker’s home track, keeping the trophy in the hands of The Blue Oval.

  1. Time for another rule change. A Ford won two races in a row. Can’t have that…
