NASCAR Ford Teams Struggle At Darlington September 2023: Video

The NASCAR Ford teams had a rough go at Darlington Raceway on September 3rd, 2023, stricken by unfortunate circumstances as a Chevy celebrated in Victory Lane.

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Ford Mustang, kept the top drivers in his sights for most of the night, chasing the No. 45 Toyota TRD Camry of Tyler Reddick around the 1.366-mile oval track. However, on Lap 310, Harvick attempted to navigate to Pit Road, forcing Reddick’s No. 45 Camry to check up in front of Ryan Newman’s No. 51 Mustang. Newman then spun, forcing a caution. In turn, Harvick’s No. 4 Mustang was caught on Pit Road, which was closed at the time, resulting in a penalty and a 19th-place finish.

Meanwhile, Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 34 NASCAR Ford and another Playoffs contender, struggled throughout the day. He had gone a lap down by the time he was swept up into a wreck that critically damaged his race car. He was forced to retire from the race and is currently last in the Playoffs standings.

Joey Logano’s No. 22 Mustang struck the wall a few times during the race, ultimately finishing 12th.
