In recent months, we’ve begun seeing more and more nicely-kept, low-mile Ford Taurus models hit various collector car auctions across the web, including a handful of wagons. As it turns out, this once red-hot entity among suburbanites is beginning to become a bit, shall we say, collectible, with values seemingly on the rise as a result. Thus, perhaps it should come as no surprise that this 1987 Ford Taurus LX wagon up for grabs at Bring a Trailer originally surfaced for sale back in July 2021, and now, it’s looking for a new home yet again.
It’s quite possible that the seller is looking to turn a bit of a profit here, as this 1987 Ford Taurus LX wagon was originally listed for sale for a mere $4,500, and it has already been bid up to $4,000 as of this writing with five days left to go in the auction. Regardless of why it’s up for grabs yet again, however, this particular Taurus is a pretty nice find, though it has 162k kilometers on the clock and actual mileage is unknown. However, the same car was previously listed for sale with 158k on the clock, so it hasn’t been driven a ton over the past couple of years.
Overall, the wagon remains in solid condition with Sandalwood Metallic paint that shows just a few blemishes on the tailgate and front bumper, while the original 15-inch basketweave wheels look to be in nice shape as well. The same goes for the Sand Beige cloth interior, which shows little wear. Additionally, there are quite a few amenities for a vehicle of this age, including woodgrain trim, air conditioning, cruise control, a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo and with power windows, door locks, and mirrors.
Power for this particular LX wagon comes from the Ford 3.0L Vulcan V6, which was standard equipment on wagons and was originally rated to produce 140 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to an AXOD 4-speed automatic transmission. Overall, this Taurus wagon is a pretty cool find, and we imagine that the seller will be handsomely rewarded when the hammer falls on this particular auction in a few days.

I miss my 1988 Sable LS with the 3.8L V6. It was such a nicely equipped car for the money. It also was a nice break in styling from the boxy brigade at the time. Maybe once the SUV craze dies down, these enjoyable to drive with utility too will make a comeback. Here’s to hoping!
I really hope an 86 Taurus LX wagon in red pops up for sale soon so I can grab it before the value of them starts to go up further. It’s so hard to find these now.
