While first-gen models have always been the apple of collectors’ proverbial eye, later versions of the Ford Thunderbird have also slowly been gaining steam in that regard, too. In recent months, we’ve seen a number of ’80s T-Birds surface for sale at various collector car auctions, including a 1984 model with just 16k miles on the clock, a 3k-mile 1987, and a stellar 1989 T-Bird with just 46k original miles. Now, that trend continues with this – a 1988 Ford Thunderbird that has just 38k miles on the clock and is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.
This incredibly nice 1988 Ford Thunderbird remained in the possession of the original owner until it was acquired by the selling dealer earlier this year, and now, it’s up for grabs as a rather enticing find. The white exterior paint shows a bit of discoloration in the right-front headlight and turn signal lenses, and the car was reportedly involved in an accident that damaged the the left-rear panels back in 1995, but otherwise, there aren’t too many bones to pick there.
The same goes for the interior, which features two-tone cloth-covered front bucket seats and a rear bench seat, along with a solid number of amenities that include automatic climate control, cruise control, a system status display, the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, and power windows, door locks, and mirrors.
Power for this T-Bird comes from the beloved and quite common 302 cubic-inch V8, which was factory-rated to produce 155 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. While its prior accident may present prospective buyers with a bit of concern, it certainly seems like there will still be plenty of interest in this ultra-nice Thunderbird, and for good reason – after all, one-owner cars like this with low miles don’t exactly grow on trees.

I had a chance to score an ’88 Turbo Coupe 5spd at the beginning of the summer, and I fooled around and let it slip by.
