2000 Ford Ranger XL Trailhead With 2K Miles Up For Auction

Before the Ford Ranger disappeared in the U.S. for a number of years and returned as a mid-size pickup, the compact version of that same model was quite a common sight on the roadways. That’s also true today, but the older Ranger is quickly becoming more of a collector’s item, with numerous low-mile examples surfacing for sale at online auctions in recent months. That list includes, most recently, a 1999 Ranger with 14k miles, a 2002 XLT with 29k miles, and a 2004 Ranger Edge with just 3k miles on the clock. Now, fans of that particular generation can also bid on this stellar and interesting 2000 Ford Ranger XL Trailhead over at Bring a Trailer.

These days, we certainly don’t seen many Ranger Trailhead pickups out running around, that’s for certain. This particular package added some off-road-focused goodies to the two-wheel drive model such as better shocks, beefier tires, and other components shared with four-wheel drive Rangers.

This 2000 Ford Ranger XL Trailhead was sold new at Pat Milliken Ford in Redford, Michigan, and remained in the possession of the original owner until February of this year. No one has spent much time driving it over the past 20+ years, however, as the pickup has just 2,700 miles on the clock, and it looks pretty close to new, with stellar Amazon Green Clearcoat Metallic paint, 16-inch aluminum wheels, all-terrain tires, and a body-color Raven bed cap.

The same goes with the Medium Graphite cloth interior, which looks basically brand new and adds a few amenities including air conditioning, cruise control, and an optional AM/FM/CD stereo. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.0L V6, which in this guise was originally rated to send 150 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. With just three days to go in the auction, this cool Ranger has been bid up to $15,000 already, which means that it’ll likely garner a solid price when the hammer falls.

  1. Had leased a 2000 Trailhead in wedgewood blue. With the 3.0 and 4.10 could get up and go. Super fun truck.
