Following months of anticipation, the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 was revealed in conjunction with the 2023 Detroit Auto Show last month. Aside from the usual exterior styling updates, the revised F-150 brings about a number of notable changes, including a trim level revamp, the new Pro Access Tailgate, a standard 12-inch infotainment screen, and the deletion of the previously-standard 3.3L V6, which has been replaced by the turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost across the lineup. Perhaps even bigger news is the fact that the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R will live on – even though its rival, the Ram 1500 TRX, seems destined to switch to V6 power, and Ford Authority was able to check out the V8-powered pickup up close during the Detroit Auto Show.
Like its counterparts, the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R benefits from some exterior styling updates designed to keep it fresh. Up front, those changes include revised lighting elements, a wide blackout grille, standard forged tow hooks, a larger power dome hood, a unique hood graphic, and a new modular front bumper that’s accessory-capable, with a light bar available as an option. For models equipped with 37-inch tires – such as the Raptor R – the bumper end caps have been modified to expose more of the front tire, which gives it a more aggressive look and improves off-road capability at the same time.
Along with a new exterior color choice – Shelter Green – the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor lineup offers up new symmetrical hood graphics that are unique for both the Raptor and Raptor R, along with new graphics above the wheel lip molding, with a body side graphic located beneath each and a blackout tape micro-texture paired with Code Orange coloring. The Raptor R gets even more unique styling touches in the form of wheel lip molding graphics, a box side graphic, two front fender emblems, and blackout tape micro-texture paired with Code Orange coloring and Carbonized Gray.
Underneath, the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor lineup comes with new Fox dual live-valve shocks with position-sensitive compression control and continuously variable rebound controls, which enhance off-road capability even further thanks to the fact that these units can adapt damping to match body control to the off-road environment via Ford Performance-developed off-road algorithms.
Slated to start at $109,555, the 2024 Ford F-150 is currently scheduled to launch in early 2024 after order banks opened up back on September 13th. Ford notes that it has simplified the ordering process by reducing complexity by 90 percent, while making features such as the extended range fuel tank and Class IV trailer hitch standard across the lineup.
