The all-new Ford Transit Courier debuted back in April, followed by the also-brand-new Tourneo Courier – not to mention the all-electric E-Transit Courier and E-Tourneo Courier – just a few weeks later. In a market hungry for vans, both of these releases are notable, and now, the very first examples of each designed for that same market have rolled off the assembly line at the Ford Otosan Craiova Assembly plant in Romania.
The all-new Ford Transit Courier aims to bring enhanced connectivity and productivity to compact van customers, while Tourneo Courier is a five-seat multi-activity vehicle with more of a traditional SUV-inspired design and plenty of passenger space to boot. Both offer up 25 percent more cargo space than their predecessors, a “squircle” steering wheel inside to improve leg room and visibility, a “digiboard” instrument panel consisting of a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen running Sync 4.
Production of these new vans kicked off with diesel- and gas-powered versions of the Transit Courier, as well as gas variants of the Tourneo Courier. As for the all-electric E-Transit Courier and E‑Tourneo Courier, those two models are scheduled to enter production at some point in the 2024 calendar year.
“The team in Craiova is doing great work to deliver these exciting new models to our customers,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “We’ve made the all‑new Transit Courier bigger, more capable, and fully connected to support customers at work and accelerate their productivity, with enhanced load carrying and full integration with our Ford Pro platform of software and services. All this comes in an SUV-styled package that we know customers love.”
