Years ago, Ford offered what it called the “Octane Academy” at the Ford Performance Racing School in Tooele, Utah, giving enthusiasts a way to hone their skills out on the track via a number of performance driving courses. There, participants were able to hop behind the wheel of a specially-prepared Ford Focus ST or Ford Fiesta ST following some classroom instruction time. Back in 2019, the automaker moved its Ford Performance Racing School to Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, but we still occasionally see one of the cars used in the old Octane Academy pop up for sale. That happened this past June, and now, it has happened again, as this Octane Academy 2014 Ford Focus ST is up for auction at Cars & Bids.
This Octane Academy 2014 Ford Focus ST has a mere 21,400 miles on the clock and remains in pretty solid condition, as was the case with the previously seen example, too. Like all cars built for the racing school, this one is finished in Tangerine Scream paint with Octane Academy livery, which is complemented by silver 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the track-focused Focus is equipped with Recaro seats, four-point Ford Racecraft harnesses, a six-point roll cage, and a rear seat delete. Power comes from the turbocharged Ford 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine, which was originally rated to produce 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque that flows to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
This 2014 Ford Focus ST is equipped with additional goodies including a Stratified tune, a Ford Performance cat-back exhaust, an upgraded cooling system, a Wilwood master cylinder and rear brake calipers, and three-inch brake cooling ducts. There is some typical wear and tear to be found throughout this particular example, but given its interesting past, someone will likely find it to be enticing as a track-day toy at a minimum, we imagine.
