The Ford Authority Take

Ford Edge sales exploded during Q3 2023, once again indicating that FoMoCo has finally found level ground in terms of navigating challenging supply chain issues that have made production difficult over the last few years.

Additionally, the Ford Edge in its current form is on its way out. Both the Edge its corporate cousin, the Lincoln Nautilus, are expected to cease production at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada later this year, though Edge production has now been extended to March 2024. However, as previously reported by Ford Authority, the Edge will be replaced with an EV in the future, although the timetable for such a change has not yet been revealed.

Order banks for the 2024 Ford Edge closed Friday, October 13th. As a reminder, this model is completely unchanged when compared to its 2023 model year predecessor, quietly sending off its final model year.

  • All percent change figures compared to Ford Edge sales in Q3 2022, unless noted otherwise
  • In the United States, there were 77 selling days for Q3 2023 and 78 selling days for Q3 2022

  1. Ford has no right to cut this or the Escape from the lineup especially now that the idiotic “EV Pivot” has hit a roadblock. Time to redo both and keep them.

    1. I would say affirmative on that. We still love our Edge ST but its mileage is piling up. I’m a big Ford guy, I have 2 Mustangs, my son drives a Fiesta ST. But, If they don’t revamp / keep making the Edge, it’s replacement will more than likely be a Mazda CX-90.

      1. You’d like explorer ST too… Once they redesign comes out… And they can sell them…

    2. Agree 100%. Continue production and offer a Hybrid option to the Edge & Nautilus and watch the sales grow. Sales of the Maverick Hybrid ( I have one on order) should be an obvious indication of current buyers preference. EV’s and PHEV’s need to take a back seat to ICE and Hybrid production offerings.

  2. Great time to drop it without a replacement.

  3. This was a fine two-row, midsize crossover. Damned fine. It’s a pity Ford isn’t investing in it any more.

    1. Agreed. I think now is a great time to upgrade Edge and build it as a 2 row off the explorer platform. A RWD based Edge would be a hit I think.

  4. They need to keep it since no one wants EVs and that program is way under water!!

  5. If the Edge would of had a PHEV I would have traded my 2020 for it. Instead I traded for a Santa Fe PHEV. Three weeks in still running on the dealerships gas. Getting 105 mpg at 850 miles so far. Shows I have 4.8 gallons left in my 12.4 gallon tank.
