The rather famous radio controlled car company Traxxas has churned out its fair share of cool Blue Oval-based toys in recent years, a list that most recently includes the quite capable 1/18 scale Ford Bronco TRX-4 and Ford Bronco Raptor TRX-4M, as well as a 1/10 scale Ford GT RC car. Now, that list of radio-controlled offerings is set to expand yet again, this time with the launch of the new Ford F-150 TRX-4M High Trail Edition truck.
Based on a late 1970s Ford F-150 pickup, the new TRX-4M High Trail Edition is a bit different than its regular Traxxas counterpart in a number of ways. For starters, it features 35 percent more ground clearance than the regular TRX-4M, larger Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS tires, and an extended wheelbase, all of which further enhances the off-road capability of the miniature yet rather beefy-looking machine.
That extra lift is accomplished with the installation of a new long arm lift kit, which features revised shock mounts and extended links to ensure proper suspension geography is retained, along with 2.4-inch tires with a sticky compound, not to mention a design that mimics the real thing. The new, longer wheelbase measures 162mm – six more millimeters than the standard model – which aids in ride quality and stability, and the clipless body makes it possible to remove that ABS piece in seconds.
Pricing for the new Traxxas Ford F-150 TRX-4M Trail Edition model comes in at $174.95, with a release date currently set for this coming Friday, October 27th. Those interested in purchasing this cool off-road can find an authorized dealer near them by heading over here.
