The Ford Authority Take

Ford Motor Company Mexico’s solid performance in the third quarter maintains the company’s sales momentum in the country, with two full quarters in a row in the green and a total of seven consecutive months of increases. The notable improvement in FoMoCo sales is likely due to an influx of fresh Ford vehicles that have arrived in the country this year.

In particular, the the Ford Transit commercial van line added more than 1,000 additional units of volume compared to last year. Additionally the growing popularity of the all-new Ford Territory is apparent. The compact crossover has quickly established itself as the company’s best-selling vehicle in the country and displaced the F-Series as a result of that feat.

By contrast, Ford’s entire pickup lineup and the vast majority of the automaker’s utility vehicles suffered big declines during Q3 in Mexico, including the entire Lincoln lineup. In fact, the Ford Ranger had the most significant volume loss of the group, selling a total of 1,202 fewer units compared to Q3 of last year.
