As most are well aware, the sixth-generation Ford Bronco is a vehicle that was designed to be quite capable off-road, and the automaker has thus far been quite keen to encourage owners to participate in those types of activities. In fact, FoMoCo recently revealed the new Bronco Trail App, which contains around 1,200 curated off-road trail maps that can be filtered by location, difficult, and length. Users can also check out points of interest, scenic lookouts, and photo-ops, as well as save their own, and access both 2D topographical maps and satellite images, all of which can be downloaded and accessed offline. Now, in an effort to help protect against damage incurred while off-roading, The Blue Oval has also launched the new Ford Protect Off-Road Use Option, according to Bronco Nation.
The Ford Protect Off-Road Use Option provides extended warranty coverage for both Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Sport owners, giving them coverage for things like damage to their wheels and tires, minor windshield chips and cracks, or small dents in the bodywork that owners might incur while out on the trails.
This new coverage – which must be added when the vehicle is within its factory three-year, 36,000-mile warranty period – consists of three separate offerings. The first – TireCARE – covers damage to wheels and tires, so long as the tires don’t have less than 3/32″ tread depth at the time the damage occurs, and it doesn’t apply to things like damage incurred due to road conditions at construction sites, vandalism, theft, or normal wear and tear.
DentCARE covers dings so long as they’re no larger than four inches in diameter, aren’t the result of vandalism, can’t be fixed using paintless dent repair, or those that might damage the paint. Finally, WindshieldCARE handles chips and cracks that are less than six inches in size, but does not include total windshield replacement, damage caused by things like hail or vandalism, and damage to areas other than the front windshield.
We’ll have more on this new warranty coverage soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Bronco news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
