2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Gets Reduced Speakers

Entering its third model year of production, the Ford F-150 Lightning is receiving a few updates for 2024, albeit nothing one might consider major. Aside from the addition of a pair of new, special models to the EV pickup’s lineup, FoMoCo is content to move on with little more than a few minor changes for the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning, but now, sources familiar with the matter have informed Ford Authority that the range-topping Platinum trim is in line for yet another interesting update.

The 2024 Ford F-150 Platinum B&O Unleashed Sound System will now include a total of 14 speakers, including the subwoofer, which is four fewer speakers than what was included in the 2023 model. It’s unclear which of the previous 18 speakers have been removed from this offering, but the B&O Unleashed Sound system is only available on the Platinum trim as standard equipment.

This change – in addition to the deletion of Active Park Assist 2.0 – is just the latest of a handful in store for the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning, which is adding a couple of new models to the lineup for the new model year. That includes the Platinum Black, which is the first production Ford truck to feature a matte wrap, coupled with a host of dark elements such as a black Ford oval badge, Agate Black accented power-deployable running boards, Agate Black door handles, matte black 22-inch wheels and lug nuts, a smoked signature light bar, and a black-on-black Lightning badge.

The 2024 F-150 Lightning also adds the Flash to its lineup, which contains many of the more popular features customers have opted for thus far – like the extended range battery and 15.5-inch infotainment screen – all at a more approachable price. As Ford Authority reported last month, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning will eventually add a lithium-ion phosphate battery pack for its standard range models, while fleet order banks for the work-focused Pro model opened up in October as well. Additionally, the 2024 F-150 Lightning lineup is also being treated to a heat pump as standard equipment, which aims to reduce range loss in colder temperatures.
