The all-new 2024 Ford Mustang brought about a number of notable changes to the iconic pony car, many of which took place inside the cabin and are designed to attract younger buyers. Along with fancy new screens running video game-like graphics, the brand new range-topping Ford Mustang Dark Horse is also chock full of cool stuff like a flat-bottom steering wheel, suede-covered surfaces, Bright Indigo Blue stitching, as well as a standard anodized blue titanium shift knob for models equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, which is hollowed out to make it as lightweight as possible – as well as cooler to the touch, according to Ford. Now, that special 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse shift knob is available to purchase via the automaker’s official catalog, too.
Sold in the Ford Performance catalog under part number M-7213-T, the Mustang anodized titanium shift knob, as it’s officially known, retails for $400 and is the same exact piece found in the new Dark Horse. It fits a pretty wide array of pony cars, however – 2015-2024 manual Ford Mustang models equipped with either the stock shifter or the Ford Performance Short Throw Shifter that’s sold in The Blue Oval catalog under part number M-7210-MA.
This is possible thanks to the fact that the Ford Mustang Dark Horse anodized titanium shift knob retains its stock M12 x 1.25 thread for the shift knob, which is obviously good news for those that own not only S650 models, but also an S550, as they can get the same cool look and unique feel as the latest and greatest Mustang.
In addition to this shift knob and the aforementioned interior upgrades, those that opt for the Dark Horse Appearance Package get specially bolstered Recaro seats with Deep Indigo Blue bolsters and Bright Indigo Blue accent stitching and black Dinamica suede in the center for improved lateral grip. Deep Indigo Blue seatbelts and distinctive seat perforations with blue accents beneath the seating surface round out the blue theme, while the dark metallic hue dubbed Black Alley replaces the bright silver shades present in other 2024 Mustang trim levels.
