The redesigned Ford Ranger has been available in a number of global markets for a while now, a list that includes the South American country of Brazil. After the new Ranger went on sale in Brazil this past June, the mid-size pickup racked up 2,000 orders in the first 24 hours they were available, as well as 3,000 sales in its first week. Since then, Ford has added more trims and engine choices to its Brazilian Ranger lineup, along with plenty of accessories, all while the Ranger set a new sales record in the month of October. Just yesterday, The Blue Oval began taking orders for the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor in Brazil as well, and it didn’t take long for the high-performance, off-road-focused version of the mid-size pickup to sell out, either.
The Ford Ranger Raptor pre-sale began in Brazil with 400 units initially being made available, but that batch only lasted a mere five hours, with the first 250 pickups spoken for in just 30 minutes after the sale started. Ford notes that around half of those 400 units are expected to be delivered in February, while the rest should arrive by May.
In Brazil, the new Ford Ranger Raptor is largely identical to the one that’s already on sale in other parts of the world, meaning that it’s equipped with the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine producing 397 horsepower and 59.45 kgfm (430 pound-feet) of torque, mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission. This helps it rocket from 0-62 mph in just 5.8 seconds, making the Ranger Raptor the quickest pickup on sale in that market, according to Ford.
Other notable differences compared to the regular Ranger include unique, aggressive bodywork with a signature “Ford” script grille, Fox shocks, beefy all-terrain tires, and an interior with jet fighter-inspired seats and a pair of 12.4 inch screens – one for the digital instrument cluster, and another running SYNC 4. Pricing for the Ford Ranger Raptor in Brazil starts out at R$448,600 ($91,734 USD).
