Ford Ranger Wins Parkers 2024 Best Pickup Award

As Ford Authority recently reported, the Ford Transit lineup enjoyed tremendous success in the latest version of the UK publication Parkers’ best new vehicles awards, with the Ford E-Transit earning Best Electric Van honors, the Transit securing its spot as the Best Large Van, and the Transit Custom scoring Best Medium Van and Best Commercial Vehicle overall. However, it wasn’t just The Blue Oval’s van lineup that brought home the proverbial hardware, as the Ford Ranger also received the Best Pickup award in the 2024 Parkers Van and Pickup Awards.

“It’s rare that a brand brings out two all-new commercial vehicles in the same year and that both leap straight to the top of their class, but Ford has managed it,” Parkers wrote of its selection. “Were it not for the arrival of the Transit Custom, there would have been a real case for the new Ranger pickup being named the overall Commercial Vehicle of the Year as well as the Best Pickup 2024.”

“It is tough to make huge advances in the pickup sector, given that it has to be tough, capable off road, and able to take a hefty payload in the rear to satisfy both tax systems and demanding buyers. Even operating within those parameters, the Ranger has made notable strides forward and the new model is an excellent new truck. It’s fantastic to drive, has a brilliant interior, and has more space than its predecessor, making it more versatile for those that want to transport people just as much as they want to carry a heavy pile in the loading bay. It moves the game on and cements its place as the best of those available.”

“The Ranger is fantastic to drive, has a brilliant interior, and has more space than its predecessor, making it more versatile for those who want to transport people just as much as they want to carry a heavy pile in the loading bay,” said Tom Webster, Deputy Head of the Digital Automotive Hub and Vans Editor for Parkers. “It moves the game on and cements its place as the best pickup on sale today.”

Goodness! It would be great if Ford would actually make these things! I’ve seen pictures of them for two years but not a real pickup. What good is an award if they are not for sale!

As stated in the article, Parkers is a British publication so they are referring to the Euro models that have been on sale and in production for a while now.

UAW strike, supplier quality issue…. Ford can’t build them regardless. If they can’t build them after years of production in other countries, gotta make you wonder.
