Back in October 2021, the all-new Ford Tourneo Connect was revealed, though in this case, we aren’t talking about the average “new” vehicle. Rather, the latest version of the Ford Tourneo Connect is little more than a rebadged Volkswagen Caddy of sorts, albeit with its own unique styling and features. Regardless, the new van has fared quite well since then in numerous studies and tests, most recently earning the highest possible safety rating from Euro NCAP of five stars. Now, the Ford Tourneo Connect has followed up that impressive result with another one – a 2023 Golden Steering Wheel Award from the European publications Auto Bild and the Bild am Sonntag.
The Ford Tourneo Connect took home the honor of being the “best car up to 40,000 euros” in the 2023 Golden Steering Wheel Awards, thanks largely to its spacious and flexible interior design. A panel of judges drove the finalists for each of these awards and voted for their favorites in each category in what was the 47th year in which the Golden Steering Wheel Awards have been handed out.
“In times when vehicles are becoming more and more expensive, the Ford Tourneo Connect is an ideal companion thanks to its versatility,” said Auto Bild managing editor Maximilian Bitter. “The base starts at less than 30,000 euros and as a practical family car, the Tourneo can accommodate up to seven people. The family van for the family budget thus secures the editorial award.”
“The Ford Tourneo Connect has proven to be the ideal family car with very good value for money,” added Christian Weingärtner, Managing Director for Ford Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. “We are pleased that the readers of Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag, the jury and the editorial team see it the same way.”
