The redesigned Ford Transit Custom has thus far racked up a number of accolades following its debut in van-hungry Europe, a list that most recently includes winning Best Medium Van and Best Commercial Vehicle from the UK publication Parkers. However, the new van looks primed to continue that hot streak after adding yet another award to its ever-growing list of them – this time, 2024 International Van of the Year (IVOTY).
These awards are determined by a panel of 24 judges who are commercial vehicle journalists, all of whom are based out of either Europe or South Africa. The Ford Transit Custom beat out a host of new or significantly updated competitors including the HYVIA Master E-Tech H2, Mercedes-Benz eCitan, and Opel Vivaro-e Hydrogen to take home Europe’s most prestigious commercial vehicle honor.
“Well, it’s a ‘High Five’ for the Ford Transit on winning the International Van of the Year Award 2024,” said Jarlath Sweeney, chair, International Van of the Year. “This is the fifth occasion that the Ford Transit has won IVOTY, first in 2001 and 2007 with the then all-encompassing model. Soon after its launch, the new generation standalone one-ton variant – the Transit Custom – secured the title in 2013, and in 2020, and now for 2024. Congratulations to all involved for this significant achievement.”
“We are very proud that the IVOTY jury has bestowed this prestigious award on the all-new Transit Custom,” said Hans Schep, General Manager, Ford Pro Europe. “As the leading one-ton van of choice for European customers, the all-new Transit Custom has been designed and engineered to meet their wide-ranging needs. Along with our award-winning diesel, customers will soon also have the choice of electric and PHEV versions too. Every model is packed with innovation and superfast connectivity to Ford Pro’s uptime, charging, and productivity software ecosystem to help our customers’ businesses thrive.”

Will they be doing the new ford van on the Moterbillt scheme with side ramp and transfer from wheelchair to drive? I have a Mercedes sprinter van with back lift but so very very hard to park it anywhere because no one takes any notice of the wheelchair stickers on the back doors .
