Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing (RFK), a two-car Cup Series team, announced that it will field a third NASCAR Ford Mustang for David Ragan, who will attempt to qualify for the 2024 Daytona 500.
The No. 60 will adorn the doors of the Mustang, kicking off RFK Racing’s Stage 60 program. So far, the only race on the No. 60 Mustang racer’s schedule is the Daytona 500, but RFK says it will expand its efforts throughout the 2024 racing season as a part-time entry, potentially fielding different drivers at each event. Previously, the number has ridden with several other NASCAR Ford competitors throughout RFK’s history.
“The 60 car represents an opportunity for us to honor our past and look forward to the future of RFK Racing,” said Steve Newmark, President of RFK Racing. “We’re thankful to have partners like BuildSubmarines.com, who, like us, have a mission to grow and be best in class in all endeavors.”
Ragan said he’s thrilled to have another shot at the Great American Race next year, driving for the team that played a massive role in his endeavors from 2007 through 2011.
“It’s really exciting to be back in an RFK Ford,” Ragan said. “I spent some of the best years of my career driving for [part team owner] Mr. Jack [Roush] and the team at RFK. They really gave me my first opportunity in the sport and I have to thank BuildSubmarines.com for helping make this happen. We had a really strong run going in my last year at Roush at the 500, and hopefully we can go back and finish what we started.”
In his 13-year fulltime Cup Series career, Ragan has two victories, including winning at Daytona in the summer of 2011 behind the wheel of the No. 6 NASCAR Ford.
When Ragan and the rest of the NASCAR Ford teams take to the track next season, it will be with the new seventh-generation Ford Mustang Dark Horse race car. Qualifying for the Daytona 500 is scheduled for February 14th, 2024.
