Economy cars aren’t often well-preserved – they’re driven into the ground and are overlooked by automotive enthusiasts in favor of something sportier. However, every so often, an economy car pops up that has been well-cared for, like a 1989 Ford Escort with 43,000 miles on the odometer that was auctioned off earlier this year. Another example, a 1994 Ford Escort LX, is currently looking for its next owner on Bring a Trailer, and it’s in excellent shape considering its age. In fact, it has just 25,000 miles racked up.
This 1994 Ford Escort is finished in Cayman Green Metallic, and features a rear spoiler, black mirror caps and a glass sunroof. It rolls on a set of 14-inch alloy wheels finished in silver with body color accents, which the seller notes were recently refurbished before sale, wrapped in 175/65 Nexen NPriz AH5 tires that show a 2023 date code.
The cloth interior is finished in Mocha, and features front bucket seats with a folding rear seat. Its four-spoke steering wheel is situated in front of a 120 mph speedometer, and its gauge cluster relays information about coolant temperature, fuel level, while the tachometer shows up to 8,000 rpm. Amenities include an AM/FM/cassette stereo system, along with air conditioning and motorized front seatbelts.
As for what powers this 1994 Ford Escort, its 1.9L I4 High Output engine is factory rated at 88 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through the four-speed automatic transmission to the front two wheels.
This 1994 Ford Escort shows no accidents or other damage on its title, and lists history in California. At the time of this writing, the high bid is $2,500, and the auction is set to close on December 15th, 2023.

I just saw this car on BAT last night. What a great example of a nice little car. You have to love that clean design and simple interior with a dash that is perfect IMO. With a 10 and 12 year olds, the 2 door wouldn’t be good for me. But if this was a sedan, I’d bid on it. If it was a sedan with a better color, I’d be hot on it. But as it sits, what a great car and it will make someone a fantastic car.
