2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat To Gain ActiveX Seating

Entering its third model year of production, the once red-hot Ford F-150 Lightning has cooled off considerably in recent months as early adopters have dropped out of the market, prompting FoMoCo to slash its planned production for the EV pickup in half for 2024, even as sales continue to reach new personal records with nearly each passing month. Regardless, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning is set to receive a few updates for the new model year, including ActiveX seating for the Lariat trim, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority.

The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat will add an option for ActiveX seating at some point in the future, but this will be a free standing option that will be required only if the standard leather is unavailable, which potentially means the company may possibly have supply chain issues in that regard. In any event, ActiveX seating will be a late availability option for the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat, meaning that it won’t be available at launch, but will instead debut at some point later in the model year if needed.

Aside from this change, the 2024 F-150 Lightning is in line to receive a handful of other changes – some minor, and some a bit more notable. The EV pickup is getting a standard heat pump for 2024 that should help reduce range loss in cold temperatures, though it is dropping a couple of other features, including Active Park Assist 2.0 – which allows a vehicle to take over in parallel and perpendicular parking situations and can also be used to pull out of parallel spot – while the Platinum B&O Unleashed Sound System will now include a total of 14 speakers, including the subwoofer, which is four fewer speakers than what was included in the 2023 model.

The F-150 Lightning is also gaining two new variants – the dark-themed Platinum Black and popularly optioned Flash – for 2024, too. Looking further down the road, the EV pickup is also slated to get a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack at some point in the near future as well.

LOL so they’re decontenting again for the 24 model year. No leather on Lariat, and no charge station pro.
