The Ford F-Series is an extremely popular and profitable lineup of trucks in the United States, consistently crushing the competition in terms of sales while generating more revenue than the likes of Starbucks and tailing only the iPhone in branded consumer product sales. Of all the F-Series pickups, the Ford F-150 has the largest market share of any vehicle in the U.S., and Ford has now shared some interesting details about what buyers prefer when ordering their F-150.
The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling pickup in the U.S. for 46 years, and data for this study was collected between 1977 and 2022. In Florida, buyers tend to opt for the 4×2 configuration, and in Alaska, customers are particularly attracted to the Max Trailer Tow Package, while the Colorado customer base tends to favor the Platinum Black Appearance Package; meanwhile, the XLT Sport Black Appearance Package is popular in Wisconsin.
The Ford F-150 Tremor is extremely popular in Idaho, and there are quite a few STX buyers in Maine, and the Lariat trim is wildly popular in Iowa. The XLT trim finds is coveted in Michigan, and the Ford F-150 King Ranch Chrome Appearance Package and FX4 Off-Road Package are both popular in Missouri.
Rapid Red Metallic paint is sought after in Nebraska, Agate Black Metallic is popular in New York, and Oxford White is common among Hawaiian buyers. Meanwhile, Utah favors the PowerBoost Hybrid powertrain, while Nevada is home of the range-topping Ford F-150 Raptor. Buyers in Texas lean toward the F-150 King Ranch trim, which is certainly appropriate, considering that the state is home to the actual King Ranch, which supplies leather for its namesake model’s interior trim.
The popularity of the Ford F-150 likely won’t lose momentum in the U.S. anytime soon. In fact, the most satisfied buyers of the pickup hail from the Northeast and Midwest, citing its quiet ride, roomy interior and responsive handling, just to name a few aspects.
