Each and every day – many times a day – a vehicular-involved accident happens somewhere in the world, sometimes the fault of one or more drivers, and other times, perhaps caused by things beyond their control. However, rarely do we see vehicles crash into something like, say, a U.S. President’s motorcade, though that’s precisely what happened last night when a Ford Five Hundred driver plowed into an SUV that was parked and guarding President Joe Biden’s motorcade, as we can see in the video below.
President Biden was reportedly leaving a staff dinner at his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware when the whole thing happened, and was seen walking to his armored SUV at the exact moment the collision happened. The vehicle that was struck by the Ford Five Hundred driver was a Secret Service model being used to block off a nearby intersection to make room for the motorcade as it departed, at least until it was smashed into by the sedan.
The driver of the Five Hundred reported tried to continue driving into the closed-off intersection following the collision, but Secret Service agents quickly surrounded the vehicle, weapons drawn, and instructed the driver to put his hands up, after which he obliged. Authorities are investigating the matter, but don’t believe that the driver posed a credible threat to the president.
Meanwhile, President Biden was unharmed – which was also the case with everyone involved, apparently, though he looked a bit stunned by the whole incident in the video. Agents managed to get him inside of the armored SUV and drove away safely alongside the First Lady, Jill Biden, who was already seated inside the vehicle when the crash occurred.
