Though the Ford Mustang Mach-E got off to a hot start following its debut for the 2021 model year, the EV crossover has cooled considerably in recently months amid competitive price drops and slower-than-expected demand for EVs in general. FoMoCo has since reversed course and is now allowing dealers to advertise Ford Mustang Mach-E inventory at figures below MSRP, though it seems as if the model is set to lose its eligibility for federal EV tax credits soon, which could further hamper sales. As Ford Authority reported earlier this week, The Blue Oval is offering a new incentive for extended range models to help offset some of this, and now, it is also adding a fleet-specific discount as well, according to a dealer bulletin recently seen by CarsDirect.
This new discount is specific to fleet customers such as government agencies and commercial entities, and consists of $5,000 in dealer cash. Ford Pro initially launched this rather substantial discount last Friday, but it can’t be advertised like a traditional rebate – rather, dealerships have the option of keeping this money for themselves, or passing it on to customers.
According to the bulletin, the purpose of this discount is “to help drive EV sales volume as the close of 2023 approaches,” focusing on “commercial and state & local government,” not to mention a way to help jump-start Ford Mustang Mach-E sales in general, which have been a bit lagging as of late. The offer is set to expire on January 2nd, 2024
This new dealer cash offer is just the latest in a series of recent Mach-E discounts, which also includes the aforementioned deal on Premium trimmed crossovers with the extended range battery pack, as well as the GT. Those models are currently eligible for $3,000 in Retail Bonus Cash, making them a more enticing deal compared to their standard range equivalents.
