The six-week-long United Auto Workers (UAW) strike against Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis impacted multiple plants and numerous models over that time frame, shutting down production of select vehicles. As a result, those impacted vehicles saw their production numbers plummet for the most part over that month and a half span, at least until the two sides reached a new agreement that was later ratified by UAW members and is now official. That list includes the Ford Chicago Assembly plant – which builds the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator – but perhaps unsurprisingly, production of both of these models rebounded in a big way in November, according to the automaker’s most recent sales report.
In October, Lincoln Aviator production totaled a mere 28 units, which was a whopping 2,704 less than September. However, in November, Lincoln Aviator production at the Chicago Assembly plant rose all the way up to 2,361 units – the third best monthly total of the year so far. That also brings production of the luxurious crossover up to 18,543 units for 2023 as of the end of November, with one month left to go.
Meanwhile, 2024 Lincoln Aviator production is currently scheduled to begin on January 2nd, 2024, and as Ford Authority previously reported, the crossover will carry over completely unchanged save for one major update – the plug-in hybrid Grand Touring model has been discontinued for the new year, though it’s possible the PHEV will make a comeback as part of a forthcoming 2025 refresh, perhaps packing a different electrified powertrain. However, for now, it’s unclear if that’s the case, and we already know that the automaker is developing all-electric versions of it and the Explorer.
In the meantime, Ford Authority has spotted numerous refreshed Aviator models out testing over the past few months, many devoid of any sort of camouflage, revealing the model’s updated exterior styling, as well as some interior revisions – including the disappearance of its physical HVAC button array.
