1988 Ford Mustang GT With Just 17K Miles Up For Auction

Rarely does a day go by when we don’t come across some kind of cool and/or unique Fox Body Ford Mustang up for sale, a list that most recently includes a 1985 GT convertible with just 8k miles, a 40k-mile 1993 GT, and a 1990 GT convertible that was modified by the late great Ken Block. Now, we can add this 1988 Ford Mustang GT to that list, as it has just 17k miles showing on the odometer and it’s currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer.

Finished in Bright Regatta Blue Metallic with gray lower-body cladding, this 1988 Ford Mustang GT is in immaculate condition, as one would expect given its low mileage total, and it’s also bone stock, to boot. A true time capsule of sorts, the pony car is fitted with the requisite unique bodywork installed on GT models of this era, along with Ford’s famous pony wheels, fog lights, a sunroof, a spoiler, and in this case, Bridgestone tires. Underneath, one will find the Handling Suspension Package, which added variable-rate springs and a Quadra-Shock rear setup, plus power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering.

Peek inside the cabin, and one will find a pristine Medium Gray cloth interior with amenities including air conditioning, cruise control, a cassette stereo, and power-operated windows and locks, along with a tachometer.

As for power, this Mustang GT is equipped with the venerable naturally-aspirated 5.0L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to send 225 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lock axle. The only modification present here is a Borla cat-back exhaust system, which is nothing that can’t be returned to stock with too much trouble. In any event, given how popular Fox Body Mustangs are these days, we don’t doubt this one will prove to be a hot item.

If it has those wheels on it, it’s not stock. Those wheels didn’t come out until the 1991 Year for the Mustang.

It’s missing the louvered tail lights. I had an ’88 GT and it was a blast.
