2004 Mercury Marauder With 3K Miles Up For Auction

While pretty much all Panther platform cars are sought after these days, one could make the argument that none are quite as collectible as the Mercury Marauder. The high-performance sedan does pop up for sale quite frequently, with recent examples including a 2003 model with just 5k miles, another ’03 that was reviewed by YouTuber Doug DeMuro, and a 2004 Marauder finished in the rare color dubbed Dark Toreador Red. Now, this 2004 Mercury Marauder adds to that list, as it’s up for auction at Bring a Trailer right now with just under 3k miles on the clock.

Finished in Silver Birch Metallic, this Mercury Marauder just changed hands back in 2022, presumably after spending most of its life in storage. It’s one of just 997 built in this particular model year that’s painted that particular color, and it remains in fantastic condition, which is to be expected given its low mileage total. The same goes for its Dark Charcoal leather interior, which features an Audiophile sound system, cruise control, power-adjustable pedals, factory AutoMeter gauges, and automatic climate control among its many amenities.

FoMoCo produced just 11,000 Marauders over two model years, and today, they’re coveted collectibles. The main draw here is the car’s naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, originally rated to produce 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear differential with 3.55 gears.

The Marauder also came equipped with the Performance Handling Package and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with dual-piston front calipers, as well as 18-inch wheels, which in this case are wrapped with 235/50 BFGoodrich front and 245/55 Continental rear tires. Ultimately, this example is easily one of the nicest Marauders on the planet, if not the very best, which should make it a hot commodity at auction.

I was a proud owner of a 2004 Mercury Marauder, drove it 143,000 miles over a period of 14 years. Once FoMoCo discontinued sedans, I switched brands, now I’m a proud owner of a 2018 Dodger Charger GT Plus and a 2022 Chrysler 300S w/5.7L V8.
