In recent years, we’ve seen the prices of Ford GT models quite literally blow through the roof at various auctions, with a 32-mile 2006 Heritage Edition hammering for $760k back in February 2022, while a 2017 GT raked in $1.65 million a few years ago, and a 2018 Ford GT secured a high bid of $1.2 million in 2020, too. Turns out, these kind of results aren’t exactly uncommon either, as Bring a Trailer – the online collector car auction site – just released its trends and highlights for 2023, and it reveals that one specific 2020 Ford GT was among the the company’s top five in terms of top sales price last year.
The top-grossing Ford GT of the year – this 84-mile 2020 Liquid Carbon model – hammered for a whopping $1.791 million, which put it squarely in some rarified air, as it was joined by the likes of a 592-mile 2014 Pagani Huayra, a 1967 Porsche 910, a 601-mile 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, and a 2019 Porsche 935 to round out the top five grossers of 2023 among a whopping 37,000 listings.
In total, BaT surpassed $1.4 billion in sales for the second consecutive year, and also enjoyed its highest number of listings ever – between 700 and 800 each week. The site reached the 100,000 listing mark in February, and by December, had hit 132,000 listings, all as it increased its registered member total by 20 percent.
“Despite adjustments across the collector car marketplace, the Bring a Trailer community clearly demonstrated a sustained passion for collector and enthusiast vehicles in 2023,” said Randy Nonnenberg, co-founder and president of Bring a Trailer. “We also saw increasing interest beyond four wheels with motorcycles, parts and automobilia, and other categories. Perhaps most significant, though, is the continued commitment of our community to transparency and collective vetting. Those elements lead to positive outcomes for both sellers and buyers, and they remain the foundation of what we do.”
