Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2023 Ford F-150 models over an issue with the rear axle bolt.
The defect: in affected vehicles – which are equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design – the rear axle hub bolt may fatigue and break, which can result in damage to the axle hub splines.
The hazards: damaged axle hub splines can result in a vehicle roll away when the vehicle is in park without the parking brake applied, or cause a loss of drive power. Both of these conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components: rear axle hub bolt
Affected vehicles: select 2021-2023 Ford F-150 models produced between January 28th, 2020, and December 25th, 2022.
Number of vehicles affected: 112,965
The fix: a remedy is currently under development. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer for an interim repair if they experience symptoms related to rear axle bolt breakage, such as a clicking or rattling noise.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin January 29th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23S65.

Gee, I thought this time they really truly got their quality problems under control and they weren’t kidding. But it looks like same the old stupid so I guess this year will remain unchanged.
F150s have been snapping these since the 14th gens have been out! You need to do better Ford, should have issued a recall long ago.
I don’t have that towing package and my Tremor was built in Jan of ’23 so I guess I’m good.
Traded a 2020 f250 with 10 speed issue cost me 1k to rent a vehicle till truck was fixed now 2022 f150 with axle bolt recall and another cost to rent a vehicle till fixed. Both were Fords issue but at my expense. So much for Ford Tough and Union Strong!!
