2023 Ford Bronco DR Up For Auction

The Blue Oval quite literally shocked the world when it revealed the Ford Bronco DR in late 2021 as a hardcore racing version of the OEM SUV powered by the naturally-aspirated 5.0L Coyote V8 and riding on a fortified version of its frame. Since then, the Ford Bronco DR has gone on to rack up universally positive reviews, and we’ve seen at least one example arrive at a dealership looking for its new owner. However, the ultra-limited and quite-pricey machine isn’t exactly easy to find – particularly for those without professional racing ties – and as such, this example up for grabs at Bring a Trailer may be the only way for those folks to acquire one.

2023 Ford Bronco DR Mystichrome - Exterior 002 - Rear Three Quarters

This 2023 Ford Bronco DR is one of just 50 built by Ford Performance and Multimatic Motorsports, in fact, and in this case, the factory white body panels have been finished in the famous color-shifting hue dubbed Mystichrome. Even though it shares a lot of components with the regular road-going Bronco, the DR features an array of unique resin transfer molded fiberglass body panels, mated to a unique rear section, though it lacks basic things like window glass or functioning doors.

This is because the Ford Bronco DR was built for one purpose – going fast off-road – and that much is clear when we peek behind its 17-inch beadlock wheels and 37-inch BFGoodrich competition-use tires. There, one will find serious hardware like Alcon brake components, Radflo front and rear hydraulic bump stops with data sensors, and Multimatic aluminum lower control arms and remote-reservoir adjustable spool valve dampers, which gives the DR 15.8 inches of front suspension travel and 17.4 inches in the rear. It’s all business inside the cabin as well, which is fitted with Recaro Pro Racer ORV-XL seats and a MoTeC data acquisition system, plus loads of safety equipment.

As previously mentioned, the Ford Bronco DR is powered by the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which sends power to all four wheels via Ford’s 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission, an electronically shifted dual-range transfer case, and front and rear locking differentials with 4.7:1 gears. With a price tag of around $300k new, this example has already been bid up to $185k with eight days left to go before the auction ends – pretty much guaranteeing that it’ll go for more than that lofty figure.
