Now set to enter its third model year of production, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning lineup is being treated to a few changes – some minor, and others far more notable. As Ford Authority reported yesterday, most of the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning lineup is getting a rather large price bump as well, one that impacts virtually every trim – save for the range-topping Platinum and Platinum Black – which are actually getting cheaper for the new model year. However, Ford isn’t done tweaking the EV pickup’s list of configurations just yet, according to the Detroit Free Press.
First up, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat will not be available with the standard range battery, as has been the case since it originally launched for the 2022 model year. This means that Lariat customers will only be able to spec the new pickup with the larger, extended range battery, which offers up an EPA estimated 320 miles of range versus 240 for the standard battery. However, this also means that the Lariat will be more expensive, as the outgoing base version started out at $69,995, while the extended range model now has a base price of $79,495 – $2,000 more than the equivalent 2023 model.
Ford is also eliminating the XLT with the 312A equipment group, meaning that this particular trim will only be available with the 311A equipment group, which corresponds with a hefty $10,000 price increase for that trim level. Previously, the 312A equipment group added 20-inch Dark Carbonized wheels, Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, 9.6 kW Pro Power Onboard, Intelligent Access with Approach Detection, a heated steering wheel, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, LED box lighting, the power tailgate, tailgate step, and tailgate work surface.
In addition to these changes, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning will add an option for ActiveX seating at some point in the future, as Ford Authority recently reported, but this will be a free standing option that will be required only if the standard leather is unavailable, which potentially means the company may possibly have supply chain issues in that regard. The EV pickup is also getting a standard heat pump for 2024, is dropping Active Park Assist 2.0, and the Platinum B&O Unleashed Sound System will now include a total of 14 speakers, while both the dark-themed Platinum Black and popularly optioned Flash are new for 2024, too.
