Ecolab To Buy Ford Mustang Mach-E And F-150 Lightning EVs

While consumer demand for EVs waned a bit toward the end of 2023, the same can’t be said of the commercial space, which continues to favor both the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Ford F-150 Lightning as those entities work to transition their fleets to electrification. Thus far, that list includes the likes of New York City – which has made multiple purchases of those vehicles in recent months, as well as the FBI Police, the London Ambulance Service, the Department of Homeland Security, United Rentals, and Southern California Edison (SCE), to name just a few. Now, we have yet another name to add to that list – Ecolab – which is purchasing a large number of Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning models to add to its own fleet.

Ecolab – a water, hygiene, and infection prevention solution company – is aiming to transition its entire North American fleet to EVs by 2030, though it plans to reach that same goal in California by 2025 and achieve net-zero emissions globally by 2050. To get there, the company plans to purchase 1,000 Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning vehicles at first, which will instantly create what is believe to be the largest all-electric sales and service fleet in California.

Ford and Ecolab aren’t exactly strangers, as the two companies have history dating way back to 1925 and most recently worked together to reduce and reuse water in various Blue Oval manufacturing plants. Over the past 10 years, Ecolab has also purchased around 31,000 Ford vehicles for its fleet, and currently operates around 10,000 total vehicles – 95 percent of which are Blue Oval products.

“Ecolab’s history is rich with collaboration between like-minded companies committed to sustainable business growth,” said Christophe Beck, chairman and CEO of Ecolab. “Ford and Ecolab have worked together for nearly a century, most recently to help conserve water and energy while improving business performance. This next phase of our relationship will help us move quickly and at scale with the goal of improving profits through renewable energy and EV solutions for the betterment of our employees, business, and the environment.”
