The all-new Ford Mustang GT3 racer was revealed last June, and is one component of a larger global motorsports push following the launch of the next-generation S650 2024 Mustang. The new GT3 is destined to compete at various events all over the world – including the 2024 running of the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans – as well as other stops on the FIA GT3 circuit. Even though it’s a high-tech machine packing loads of technology and a lofty price tag, the Ford Mustang GT3 is still viewed as a bit of an underdog by the automaker, surprisingly enough, but thus far, it has performed well in practice ahead of its forthcoming on-track debut. Now, the Ford Mustang GT3 is also getting some fresh looks ahead of the 2024 motorsports season, too.
First up, we have the Ford Mustang GT3 set to be driven by the Dinamic GT customer racing team, which will compete in the SRO Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe starting this April. Both cars racing under the Dinamic GT banner – car number 54 and 55 – will wear the same livery, which utilizes the traditional team colors of green, black, and white, along with the iconic Mustang pony as a main feature.
Additionally, both the number 55 Ford Mustang GT3 destined for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the number 77 set to complete in the FIA World Endurance Championship for the Proton Competition customer racing team will run an identical livery, which also makes extensive use of the pony logo. A second Proton Competition WEC Mustang GT3 – car number 88 – was also revealed alongside these new liveries, and its’ set to be driven by Giorgio Roda, Mikkel O. Pedersen, and Dennis Olsen.
The all-new Ford Mustang GT3 has thus far faced higher than expected demand, which is good news for Ford as it works to quickly expand its motorsports efforts across the globe. However, it’s far different from the road-going pony car, particularly in terms of what powers it – a special version of the naturally-aspirated Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote, in this guise displacing 5.4 liters, which is mated to a rear-mounted transaxle gearbox.
We’ll have more on the Mustang GT3 soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Mustang news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
