Ford Puma Was UK’s Best Selling Passenger Car Of 2023

Years after its debut, the Ford Puma continues to rack up awards and accolades in countries that it’s sold in, all while remaining at or near the top of the sales charts. After closing out 2022 as one of Europe’s best-selling new vehicles, the Puma continued that success in the first half of 2023 by ranking among the top 25 in that regard as well. Now that last year is in the proverbial rear-view mirror, the Ford Puma managed to secure the top spot in terms of passenger car sales in the UK, too.

Likely to be one of The Blue Oval’s last ICE models sold in Europe as it aims to phase them out by 2030 or sooner, the Ford Puma enjoyed another strong year of sales by finishing as the UK’s best-selling passenger car in 2023 after more than 49,500 units were delivered to customers in that country. The most popular variant was the ST-Line X, which is powered by a 125 horsepower mild hybrid powerplant, too. However, as Ford Authority previously reported, an all-electric version of the Ford Puma is set to join the lineup in the near future following its official debut at some point later in 2024.

The Puma wasn’t alone in enjoying strong sales results in the UK in 2023, however. In fact, the Ford Transit Custom closed out the year as that country’s best-selling commercial vehicle, and the Ford Ranger enjoyed a robust year as well after recording its best-ever sales result in the UK at 18,700 units.

“I’m delighted that Puma was both the best-selling vehicle and car in the UK and Transit Custom was best-selling commercial vehicle in 2023,” said Lisa Brankin, Ford UK chair and MD. “This terrific achievement in 2023 is a great foundation for us to step forward into 2024 and roll out our electrification plan at pace in both the car and van markets.”
