Ford Super Duty Tremor Gets New Rival From Chevy

The Ford Super Duty Tremor has been around for a few years now, giving those in the market for a more off-road capable heavy-duty pickup a choice in that regard. However, General Motors – The Blue Oval’s cross-town rival – has largely ignored this burgeoning segment, even debuting a refreshed Silverado HD lineup last year without a suitable competitor, save for the Z71. That won’t be the case for the 2025 model year, however, as the Chevy Silverado HD lineup is adding a proper Trail Boss model to rival the Ford Super Duty Tremor.

This addition accompanies a handful of changes for the entire 2025 Silverado HD lineup, as Ford Authority reported recently, which is getting a few new features, a new package, and and a new wheel design, to name just a few. However, the big news here is the arrival of the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss, which is the very first time this treatment has been applied to the heavy-duty truck line – though it’s already in use on several other models.

Available on LT and LTZ trims, the new Silverado HD Trail Boss adds a bevy of features including the shocks and suspension package from the Z71, blacked-out front and rear bumpers, blacked-out trim and badging, Trail Boss Bed decals, red recovery hooks, and unique 20-inch black wheels wrapped with OOR tires.

In terms of powertrains, GM’s gas-powered 6.6L V8 is included as standard on the new Silverado HD Trail Boss, though the turbocharged 6.6L Duramax diesel is also available as an option. No matter which powertrain one chooses, the standard transmission choice is the automaker’s Allison 10-speed automatic gearbox. The 2025 Silverado HD and Silverado HD Trail Boss are slated to launch this summer, though pricing won’t be announced until we get closer to that date.

It’s not a Tremor competitor. It has no lift, open front dif, 33’s and an on demand rear locker.

The Tremor has a 2 inch lift, rear electronic locker, torsen front did and 35’s.
