Back in May 2022, the all-new Ford E-Transit Custom debuted in Europe as the latest addition to that region’s all-electric van lineup, though that particular model was also joined by new ICE variants – including diesel options. a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the more luxurious E-Tourneo Custom, and the camping-focused Nugget. The Ford Transit Custom remains a strong seller in Europe, and that trend figures to continue with the launch of all-new, next-generation version that launched in the region last October. Now, the redesigned van lineup has a new trophy to add to its fast-growing collection after winning French Commercial Vehicle of the Year for 2024.
A panel of judges – consisting of journalists, users, and automotive experts – chose the Ford Transit Custom as its 2024 French Commercial Vehicle of the Year after awarding the van a total of 678 points, which enabled it to beat out the second-place Renault Kangoo Van L2 (572 points) and the Ford Transit Courier (551 points). Patrick Bégaud, Director of Ford Pro, was on hand at the Folies Gruss in Paris to accept the award from Olivier Brabant, a valuation expert and the chairman of this particular jury.
Judges noted that the highlights of the new Transit Custom for them, specifically, were the new model’s pleasant driving experience, a more comfortable driving position, its modernized interior, and increased cargo carrying capacity versus the outgoing model.
This is just the latest accolade the brand new Ford Transit Custom has received after debuting to universally positive reviews, however. Back in November, Parkers UK bestowed it with both “Best Commercial Vehicle” and “Best Medium Van” in its annual awards roundup, and it also managed to secure the prestigious 2024 International Van of the Year (IVOTY), too.
